Lexus’s full hybrid LS 600h limousine gains more advanced technology and more passenger comfort for 2010, reinforcing its position as one of the most sophisticated and luxurious cars on the market. The revised range now centres on the five-seat LS 600h L long-wheelbase model, equipped with a Rear Seat Relaxation Package.
Rear Seat Relaxation Package
Lexus has made the LS 600h L’s Rear Seat Relaxation Package available as an option for five as well as four-seat models. It provides a series of features that provide a truly first class travelling environment.
The package equips the left hand rear seat (on right-hand drive models) with an electrically adjustable ottoman foot and thigh rest and an adjustable massage function that can replicate techniques from Shiatsu to acupressure. The seat is fitted with seat cushion airbag and, to give a clear view, the front passenger headrest can be electrically folded down. All rear seats have an electric recline adjustment.

French tuning company Atomik Cars plans to unveil an all-electric version of the Fiat 500 next month. According to Atomik, their electric-version of the 500 runs a 0-62 mph in just 5.6 seconds, making it nearly 1.5 seconds faster than the stock Abarth 500. Atomik says the electric-compact has the performance of a 300-hp thermic motor.
While the top speed of the car was not stated, it is said that the electric 500 reaches 400-meters in 14 seconds and one kilometer in 26 seconds. That means top speed should come in over 100 mph.
Power for Atomik’s electric 500 comes from a set of lithium-ion batteries of the lithium iron phosphate variety.

The United Kingdom will become the third global manufacturing location for Nissan’s new dedicated electric vehicle, the Leaf, the automaker has announced.
Production of the Nissan Leaf will begin in Oppama, Japan later this year followed by Smyrna, Tennessee, USA in 2012. The Japanese firm’s Sunderland plant in the UK will commence production in 2013 with an initial annual capacity of around 50,000 units.
Nissan also said that construction of its lithium-ion battery plant in Sunderland, announced last year, will begin this April. The facility is said to have a production capacity of 60,000 units a year and will start manufacturing batteries in 2012 for both Nissan and its alliance partner Renault that is readying its own series of dedicated electric vehicles.
Overall, the production of the Leaf and the batteries in Sunderland represents a total investment of more than 420 million GBP (€468.2 million or US$645 million) and is expected to protect 2,250 jobs at Nissan and its UK supply chain.

However, for some of these brands, consumer perceptions have not kept pace with their actual performance, according to the J.D. Power and Associates 2010 U.S. Vehicle Dependability Study(SM) (VDS) released today.
