For the first time in the UK, Ford is introducing the sporty Zetec S badge to its Focus line-up. Based on the existing Zetec model, the ‘S’ gives the Focus a sportier flair thanks to the addition of a styling kit that consists of front and rear spoilers with lower sill extensions, 17-inch alloy wheels and a front fender badge. Inside the Zetec S gains aluminum-style foot pedals and hand brake cover. According to Ford, even though the Zetec S’ additional features are worth over £1,600, it carries a premium of only £750 above the equivalent Zetec derivatives.
Ford also offers two optional styling packs with extra features for the Zetec S. The Sport pack that costs £500 includes 18-inch alloy wheels and privacy glass while the WRC pack, priced at £200 adds the somewhat cheesy World Rally Championship ‘chequered flag’ decals and scuff plates.
The Focus Zetec S is available in both three-door and five-door body styles and is offered with the same choice of engines as the Focus Zetec with the addition of a 1.6 Ti-VCT 115HP petrol unit. Other available engines are the 1.8 125HP and 2.0 145HP petrol units and the diesel 1.8 TDCi 115HP, 2.0 TDCi 136HP, and 2.0 TDCi 136HP with a diesel particulate filter (DPF) that can be specified with a six-speed PowerShift automatic transmission.
