Ford Focus RS

Huge demand for the new Ford Focus RS has resulted in hot hatch lovers buying their way onto the car’s waiting list despite Ford not asking for a deposit, Auto Trader can exclusively reveal.

Around 4,000 of the hotly-anticipated Ford Focus RS will be coming to the UK, with 1,600 (40%) already ordered by thrill-seeking enthusiasts. This is up from the 1,000 Ford Focus RS orders revealed by Ford in September.
With prices yet to be revealed for the 300bhp hot hatch, Ford isn’t obliged to ask for a deposit – but many customers have been putting down around £500 to get to the top of the list.
And in a spectacular development, these customers are now having their deposits bought by other people at a PREMIUM – just to leapfrog them in the queue, our source at Ford revealed.
We understand the base price for the Ford Focus RS will be around £25,000, but many customers are opting for extras such as a leather pack and technology pack.

It’s expected the technology pack will feature sat-nav, up-rated sound system, six-CD autochanger, Bluetooth and dual-zone climate control but details on this pack are yet to be finalised.
Unveiled at this year’s British Motor Show, the electric green Ford Focus RS was the star of the event and the unique colour has been a success with buyers – 40% have opted for this shade.
Most powerful Ford hot hatch ever
Performance figures on the Ford Focus RS are also thin on the ground, but it will use a 300bhp version of the 2.5-litre turbocharged engine in the Ford Focus ST.
This should ensure a 0-62mph (100kph) time of less than six seconds and a top speed in excess of 150mph putting it up against the likes of the 155mph Subaru Impreza WRX STi, Volkswagen Golf R32 and Mazda 3MPS.
It will also be a strong competitor against the front-wheel drive Renault Megane RenaultSport R26.R - widely considered to be the ultimate track-focussed hot hatch.
More technological details of the Ford Focus RS – which is expected to go on sale in the summer 2009 – will be released in December so don’t forget to come back for all the latest developments.
