Fisker is a green American premium carmaker, and they say their new 34,000 square foot facility will house employees to support the development and production of the Fisker Karma.

The Karma is Fisker’s first production car, capable of 50 miles of purely electric operation and a total range of over 350 miles. Power comes from a Quantum Technologies developed Q-DRIVE powertrain, and net fuel economy will work out to over 100 miles per gallon on extended drives. Fisker says that Karma can pull off 0-60 in under 6 seconds, while on the way to a 125 MPH terminal velocity.

Fisker says that initial Karma delivers will take place later next year, with sales in the US and Europe. The manufacturer hopes to reach 15,000 annual vehicle sales by 2011.

Bernhard Koehler, COO of Fisker Automotive commented on the new facility. “The available talent, supplier base and infrastructure in Michigan will help us reach our production goal. While Fisker Automotive will continue to be headquartered in Irvine, California, the new facility will allow us the opportunity to collaborate with our Michigan supplier base and have everyone under one roof.”
