2010 Jaguar XFR achieves top speed of 225 mph at Bonneville Salt Flats

The latest Jaguar XFR, which was created to compete with the Bmw M5, Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG and the Audi RS6, claims that there is performance behind its appearance.

From a speed test at the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah, the XFR clocked in at a top speed of 225.675 mph (363.188km/h) making it the fastest Jaguar since the XJ220 supercar hit the 217.1mph (349km/h) mark back in 1992 making it the fastest car at the time.

The top speed was achieved through a remapping of the ECU, revised air intake and exhaust system and modified supercharger settings with minor aerodynamic and safety enhancements just to conform to a Bonneville run. The engine was virtually untouched and the six-speed auto transmission was standard to the model, as well as gear rations. The standard Jaguar XFR has a top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h) which is electronically restricted. source
