Toyota’s most efficient car coming to NZ

The all new Prius will hit our shores in August. The third generation Prius will emit just 89 grams of CO2 per kilometre and use 3.9 litres of fuel per 100 kilometres travelled, according to preliminary test results.

Current generation Prius boasts a fuel consumption of 4.4 litres per 100 kilometres and CO2 emissions of 106 grams per kilometre according to test results.

Aston Martin V8 Vantage by Cargraphic

Cargraphic, the German tuner, has released its latest performance upgrade for the Aston Martin V8 Vantage which enhances power, design, and handling. The tuner has revised the car’s 4.5 liter V8 unit raising its power output from 426hp (313kW) to 466hp (342kW), and adding 24lb-ft (32Nm) of torque. These numbers give the car a sprint rate from 0-100km/h in under 5 seconds.

The car has improved its response speed throughout the rev range with a new throttle map combined with the boost in torque. Also available in the package is a new driver-adaptable suspension system that is capable of lowering the ride height of the car by 20mm. The system comes with two modes, normal and sport, which can be switched by the driver with a push of the button from where the driver sits.

The public has not always been kind to the Mars Institute. Over the years, the organization has been criticized for being unreasonable, impractical, and unnaturally fixated on Star Trek (the William Shatner version, natch.)

The public has not always been kind to Hummers, either. Folks who drive America’s favorite high-end monster truck have been vilified as aggressive, tree-hating asshats who should learn to hang up and drive. (Not that we’d ever blame anyone for being aggressive.)

Pon Porsche 911 4S Limited Edition

In conjunction with the 60th birthday of the first Porsche importer in the world, Pon Porsche Import, Porsche will present a very limited edition of the new facelifted Porsche 911 (997) 4S at the Dutch AutoRAI 2009. Pon signed a contract with Porsche in 1949 to be the first Porsche importer in the world.

The Pon Porsche limited edition will be available as a 4S coupe and 4S convertible in exclusive Diamond Black metallic with a black leather interior and only 15 Pon Edition 911 4S’s will be built.

New Ford Fiesta Wins International Design Award

The all-new Fiesta is one of the most stylish cars in the world.” That is the verdict of 28 leading designers and design experts from 19 countries who have awarded the eye-catching Ford model a prestigious ‘red dot’ award for international product design. The design professionals, who make up the award jury, said the Fiesta’s design was “innovative and dynamic”.

The red dot design awards are presented annually by Germany’s Essen-based Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen, and it’s one of the world’s largest design recognition programmes.
