The concept, which is derived from the Lotus Europa and utilizes parts coming form the UQM drivetrain, received some positive reactions when it took on the new Dodge Challenger in an unprogrammed drag race, and also when it got a modified crosshair later.
Its range of 150 to 200 miles is better than many other EVs currently in the works and should succeed in boosting the car’s attractiveness. Although there is a smaller market for an under 5 second 0-60mph sports car compared to a family-sized range-extended 200C EV concept, the development cost is significantly lower, and while it will still lose the money, it will lose much less in contrast to their other EV concepts. Furthermore, it will provide them a niche that won’t have competition from other major carmakers for some time and also a way to meet more stringent corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) benchmarks.
