Australian Defence Force Takes Delivery of First Mercedes-Benz G-Wagons

mercedes-benz-g-wagonsGerman auto-maker Mercedes-Benz has delivered the first of 1200 specially made G-Wagon off-road vehicles to the Australian Army.

Almost one year to the day the Australian Defence Force (ADF) signed contracts for the supply of the vehicles, the first two prototype units were handed over at a ceremony held in Mercedes-Benz’s Austrian assembly plant, the facility where the vehicles are produced.

Volkswagen Group Generates €1.5 Billion Operating Profit in First Nine Months

Despite the ongoing difficult macroeconomic environment, the Volkswagen Group generated a clearly positive operating profit of €1.5 billion in the first nine months (January – September 2008: €4.9 billion). This figure does not include the profit attributable to Volkswagen of more than €500 million recorded by the Chinese joint ventures in China, the Group’s largest sales market.

SEMA Show: Yenko Lives Again with 600HP 2010 Camaro Prototype

The legendary Yenko nameplate will find its way on a Chevy Camaro once again as the brand’s new owner, General Marketing Capital Incorporated (GMCI), will present its official 2010 Yenko Camaro Prototype to the public at the annual SEMA Trade Show in Las Vegas in November. Using a 2010 Camaro SS, the prototype will feature a ‘Phase I’ supercharged V8 engine with 600 horsepower coupled to a Tremec six-speed manual gearbox.

Uber Cool: BMW M5 E34 Convertible Revealed After 20 Years

Back in the late 1980’s, when the BMW M division’s portfolio was far more limited than today’s lineup which comprises of models of all sorts and sizes including SUVs, the Bavarians had an idea; what about creating an E34 M5 Convertible? Actually, it was more of an idea as BMW went ahead and developed a complete prototype that was supposed to be introduced at the 1989 Geneva Motor Show.

New Opel Corsa ecoFLEX Returns 3.7lt/100km or 63.6MPG and 99g/km CO2

GM’s Opel and Vauxhall divisions have revealed the new fuel-efficient and green Corsa ecoFLEX that will go on sale across Europe in January 2010. Available in both three- and five-door versions, the new Corsa ecoFLEX is powered by a 1.3-liter CDTi diesel engine with a variable geometry turbo for a total output of 95HP, or 28 per cent more power than the existing 75HP Corsa ecoFLEX.
