The Mercedes-Benz ATTENTION ASSIST System Wins British Prize for Safety

What Car?, the UK’s biggest car buyer’s guide, has named Mercedes-Benz the winner of its 2010 prize for best safety innovation for the ATTENTION ASSIST feature, which is designed to combat overtiredness in drivers – one of the most frequent causes of accidents. The Mercedes-Benz S-Class also took home the Car of the Year Award for best buy in the luxury segment for the fourth time in succession.

Tesla to stop building Roadster in 2011, replacement due in 2013

Come 2011, Tesla Motors will stop building its Tesla Roadster electric-car. Hidden deep within its Securities and Exchange Commission documents filed ahead of its IPO announcement, Tesla said that production of the Roadster and the Roadster Sport will stop next year – however, a replacement is due out in 2013. What’s the reason? Well, apparently Tesla doesn’t have anyone to build it.

Unit Sales At Porsche Very Encouraging

Porsche Automobil Holding SE, Stuttgart, reports a strong upward trend in the vehicle operations of its holding, Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, in the first half of the fiscal year of 2009/10 (31 July). After the unit sales of Porsche AG had fallen in the first four months by 25 percent on the same period of the prior year, the decline should be cut back to just minus 3.1 percent for the full six months, based on preliminary figures. Sales are expected to account for approx. 33,200 units, revenues will show a decrease of 3.3 percent to Euro 2.9 billion. CEO, Prof. Dr. Martin Winterkorn, reported this to the annual general meeting of Porsche SE, held today in the Porsche-Arena in Stuttgart.

Mercedes SLS AMG Integrated Marketing Campaign Outlined

A new marketing campaign for the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG has been released. The release coincides with the beginning of production of the hand-built sports car.

Asking the question, “Is it still a car?” the promotion includes traditional and non-traditional media. Ads will appear in newspapers and magazines, while Mercedes F1 driver and seven-time F1 champion Michael Schumacher will be featured in television spots.
