Adding to Toyota’s mountain of recall woes, the Japanese automaker has announced it is investigating possible brake problems with its all-new Lexus HS 250h hybrid sedan. The investigation covers models sold in the United States and Japan.

Toyota spokeswoman Ririko Takeuchi has confirmed with the Associated Press that the Japanese automaker has launched an investigation involving the company’s new Lexus HS 250h hybrid sedan. The investigation revolves around the hybrid’s braking system.

The Lexus HS 250h investigation is believed to be directly linked to investigation already launched on the 2010 Toyota Prius. Although based on separate platforms, the HS 250h and Prius share the same regenerative braking system.

According to reports, the Lexus HS 250h can lose braking power under certain circumstances. Toyota says it hasn’t fielded any complaints involving the HS 250h, but is rather launching the investigation to ensure public safety.

An official recall has yet to be issued for the Lexus HS 250h, but it sounds as if we can expect to hear more on the issue in the coming days.
