2012 Chevrolet Cruze Hatchback prices start at £13,995 ($22,265 USD)

We’re not to keen on providing pricing details for the European market, but a car like the Chevrolet Cruze Hatchback deserves some recognition. Chevrolet of Europe today announced the pricing of the Chevrolet Cruze Hatchback, which hits dealers next month.

Prices start at just £13,995 ($22,965 USD) for the 2012 Chevrolet Cruze Hatchback LS with a 1.6 liter gasoline engine mated to a manual transmission. The range-topping Chevrolet Cruze Hatchback LTZ with Executive Pack and an automatic transmission comes in at £20,294 ($33,302 USD).

Report: Hyundai Elantra Coupe to bow at LA show

Now in its second model year despite being on sale for less than a year, the 2012 Hyundai Elantra gets new standard equipment that should help improve fuel economy, along with some other minor improvements.

All Elantras equipped with a six-speed automatic transmission now get the Active Eco System, an all-new feature for 2012. The system modifies engine and transmission controls to improve gas mileage by smoothing out throttle response. Pressing the Eco button should improve real-world fuel economy by 7%, Hyundai says. A similar feature is available on the 2012 Hyundai Accent. Fuel economy is still EPA-rated at 29/40 mpg city/highway with either the automatic or manual transmission.

Mazda6 production to end in Michigan, heads back to Japan

The Mazda6 will continue into the next-generation but the model’s production will be consolidated at Mazda’s Hofu plant in Japan with Michigan assembly ending at the end of the current product cycle.

Mazda produces the North American-spec Mazda6 model at the AutoAlliance International plant in Michigan, a joint-venture production facility shared with Ford. Assembly of the Mazda6 will continue at the Flat Rock, Michigan plant until the middle of next year when a new generation of the model commences production in Japan.

Audi Begins Production of New Q3 SUV in Spain

The first series production version of Audi’s new Q3 small SUV rolled off the assembly line today at the SEAT factory in Martorell, located in Spain’s Catalonia region. Built in 1993, the Martorell plant currently employs more than 10,000 workers. This is the first time that the Ingolstadt-based automaker makes use of the SEAT factory. To build the Q3, the VW Group invested around €330 million in infrastructure and upgrades to the production facilities. Audi said around 100,000 Q3s are slated to leave the three-shift assembly line each year.
