One of the World’s most revered automotive marques – will be celebrating in real style at the annual Goodwood Festival of Speed (2-4 July) as the renowned Italian marque turns 100 years old.

The Festival of Speed will be a key focus of Alfa Romeo’s global centenary celebrations, with a striking automotive ‘sculpture’ in front of Goodwood House. With construction work due to commence shortly, the Alfa Romeo ‘Central Feature’ art installation is set to be one of the most stylish and memorable sculptures ever constructed for the Festival, representing the unique flair of one of the World’s most admired and celebrated automotive brands.

To celebrate Alfa Romeo’s 100th birthday, one of the Italian firm’s UK dealers, Allams Alfa Romeo in Espom Surrey, attempted to set a new Guinness World Record for the largest ever parade of the brands cars this past weekend. To break the record, a minimum of 200 cars were required to take part in the two-mile drive.

Alfa Romeo will introduce three different variants of the 159 at the Geneva Auto Show in March, according to Inside Line. The three concepts will demonstrate different directions the company could take with the next-generation model, while honoring the firm’s 100-year anniversary.

Fiat SpA Chairman Luca di Montezemolo has confirmed that Alfa Romeo is not for sale “under any circumstances.” Montezemolo’s words come after reports suggested the money-losing brand could be sold to Volkswagen AG.
