2011 Chevrolet Cruze Redefines Compact Segment Value

When the first 2011 Chevrolet Cruze sedans arrive at U.S. dealerships in September, they will offer consumers more for their money, with class-leading standard safety features, expected class-leading fuel economy, and more standard equipment than competitive vehicles.

“We set out to redefine the compact segment by offering customers more of the features they want for less money than comparably equipped competitive models,” said Margaret Brooks, Chevrolet Small Car marketing director. “The Cruze offers significantly more value than the competition – and the vehicle it replaces — with standard equipment that is appreciated by today’s consumers.”

Top marks for Chevy Spark in Korean crash test

South Korea’s New Car Assessment Program has awarded the Chevrolet Spark with its top five-star safety rating, a one star improvement over the similar European New Car Assessment Program’s four-star rating.

KNCAP gave the Spark a five star rating for all three of its impact tests – frontal, offset frontal and side impacts. KNCAP also says that the Spark received the highest results of any vehicle ever tested for pedestrian safety.

2012 Chevrolet Orlando

The production version of the all-new Chevrolet Orlando MPV was unwrapped today ahead of its official debut at the at the Mondial de l’Automobile in Paris on September 30. The Detroit firm’s first ever entrant in the European minivan segment, which will compete with vehicles such as the Opel Zafira and Mazda5, will enter production in October with European sales to start in early 2011. In a report earlier this year, a GM official said the company has no plans to sell the 7-seater car in the States, though it will be available in Canada.

FAIL: Rental 2010 Camaro SS in Dukes of Hazzard Style Antics Results in Crash [with Video]

And yes, we have another accident involving a rental sports car. Today’s crash concerns a 2010 Camaro SS (not that it matters, but that’s the one with the 426-HP 6.2-liter V8 powerhouse) engaging in some railroad track hoonery with the usual outcome.

Next Corvette Stays the Course, Mid-Engine Layout but May Gain Hybrid

Plain and simple: no mid-engined Corvette, maybe a hybrid, and a statement that GM is not testing any V6s in the Corvette (yet). That’s from GM’s global vehicle engineering VP Karl-Friedrich Stracke, and it’s fine by me. Spend wisely, slowly upgrade the program, don’t rock the boat.
