Ford’s again Crown Victoria has one foot out the door, which has opened up the opportunity for Chrysler to steal away a few police car sales.

Chrysler’s Dodge Charger and Magnum have actually served pretty well, but a new recall will keep both patrol cars off the beat for a little while.

Cerberus looking for full ownership of GMAC?

With rumors of a GM-Chrysler tie-up abounding - and likely to get more intense as the markets open this morning - apparently Cerberus Capital Management, Chrysler LLC’s owner, is seriously interested in acquiring full ownership of lending giant General Motors Acceptance Corporation (GMAC). Cerberus currently owns 51 percent of GMAC while General Motors owns the remaining 49 percent.

Chrysler Accepts 2008 Freedom Award
Chrysler Chairman and CEO Bob Nardelli accepted the 2008 Secretary of Defense Freedom Award today at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center in Washington, D.C. The Freedom Award is the highest recognition given by the U.S. Government to employers for outstanding support of their employees who serve in the National Guard and Reserve. A total of 15 companies in multiple categories were recognized.

“I am truly honored to accept this Freedom Award on behalf of the men and women of Chrysler,” said Nardelli. “Because the Freedom Award is based upon employee nominations, this award demonstrates the pride our employees have in working for Chrysler, knowing that our company provides military-friendly benefits and policies while on active duty.”

Chrysler pricing to a select few
Chrysler announced today that it is offering employee pricing to a select group of individuals including military personnel, returning lessees, supplier and affiliate employees. Qualifying customers can buy a Dodge, Chrysler of Jeep for $200 above what a Chrysler employee would pay.

Why the extra $200? Chrysler says that the extra $200 is a ’program fee’ charge. Chrysler employees and retirees will also be able to give one additional discount to their friends or family.
