2011 Dodge Charger with Police Package Spied in Detroit

A cloaked prototype of the redesigned for 2011, Dodge Charger sports sedan was captured on camera by a forum member of “Cheers And Gears” while driving out of the Detroit airport. The spot lights on either side of the windscreen, right above the exterior mirrors, suggest that the car may be testing a police package.

While the heavy cladding on this Charger makes it difficult to tell the details, previous spy shots have revealed a new snout with a larger and more pushed out cross-hair grille, reshaped head- and tail lights and more chiseled surfaces throughout the body.

Final Viper rolls of the lineThe final current-generation Dodge Viper rolled off the assembly line on Thursday in Detroit

Clad in bronzed gold paint, the last Viper was customised for Viper owner D’Ann Rauh, who with her husband Wayne, owns more than 40 Vipers. This Viper also had a custom leather interior and dark graphite, five-spoke forged aluminum wheels. Viper race tracks have been airbrushed into the custom-painted copper stripes.

Ultimate Dodge Viper ACR-X

Ultimate Dodge Viper ACR-XThe Viper SRT10 ACR-X is Dodge’s ultimate special-edition version of the brutish sports car.

Power comes from the SRT-developed 8.4-litre V-10 engine, producing 640 horsepower (40 more than the production model) and 605 lb-ft of torque (45 more than the production model).

It’s a harder edger version of the street-legal Dodge Viper American Club Racer, or ACR.

Similar to the Dodge Viper Competition Coupe, the Viper ACR-X contains factory-installed safety equipment.

Dodge to drop Ram logo, going for sport appeal

As Chrysler attempts to further separate Ram trucks from the Dodge brand, it has decided to change Dodge’s long-standing Ram horns logo in exchange for a pair of red racing stripes – taken from the SRT performance brand.

In an interview with Automotive News, Ralph Giles, Dodge CEO, said that the brand is looking to appeal to the youth with a sport-intentioned style.

“It signifies our sporty character. Most SRTs are Dodges,” said Giles.

Giles says the new logo will be used for upcoming advertising materials, owner’s manuals and branded merchandise.

Dodge Caliber, Dodge Nitro dropped from Chrysler’s UK lineup

The Dodge Caliber and the Dodge Nitro don’t bring much in for Chrysler LLC on a monthly basis but things seem even worse in the United Kingdom – so much so that Chrysler has pulled both models off the UK market.

The move to quietly drop both models from the lineup comes due to modest sales for both vehicles in the UK. As of now, the Dodge Journey is the only model for sale in the region.
