Continental was not only involved in the early design and development stages but will also be represented with production facilities at major locations throughout the world. The global Ford Focus is being built in five plants on three different continents; since Continental is a major supplier of vehicle systems, the company will also manufacture in the same regions.

FoMoCo has said that it is delaying the shipment of some 2011 F-150 pickups due to a parts shortage, but also said that the issue will soon be resolved.

“Any vehicle that is hot is important to Ford, and it’s doubly bad in the case of the F-150 because it’s such a volume product,” said Jim Hall, principal at automotive researcher 2953 Analytics in Birmingham, Michigan. “It’s a negative for Ford because of the lost revenue and the lost volume. It’s one of the most profitable vehicles in their range.”

While Ford has yet to release any details on the next 2012 Ford Mustang Cobra Jet, a Ford Dealer in Puerto Rico has leaked specs on the upcoming model.

Power for the 2012 Ford Mustang Cobra Jet comes from 5.4L DOHC supercharged engine making 430-hp mated to a 3-speed C4 Auto Race Transmission. According to the leaked specs, Ford has improved the low-drag racing brakes, rear suspension, revised and optimized spring rates front and rear and added optional colors including Race Red, Grabber Blue, and Winner White.

About a month ago, Ford announced that it will take the Ford F-150 EcoBoost to the demanding Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 long-distance desert endurance race, a move which also marked Ford’s EcoBoost engine racing debut.

The Dearborn automaker has announced that the truck finished the Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 in 38 hours and 20 minutes, after 1,061 miles.
