Recall: 2010 Mazda CX-9 seat heater failure

The National Highway Transportation Safety Administration has listed a recall for the 2010 Mazda CX-9. The recall involves vehicles with front-seat heaters that can fail during extreme cold.

According to the NHTSA website, Mazda is recalling certain 2010 CX-9 crossovers that are equipped with electronically heated front seats. NHTSA explains, “There is a possibility under extremely cold conditions for the seat heater control circuit to overheat and fail due to insufficient electrical grounding.”

In the event of a failure, the heating system may burn the seat cushion surface – with a slight possibility of smoke or fire.

Spot the Differences: North American 2011 Mazda2 Interior Revealed at Canada Auto Show

After comparing photos of the interiors of the North America and European Mazda2 the only visible differences we spotted between the two models concern the relocation and redesign of the glove box on the passenger’s side and the new seat trims. Other than that, the interiors of the N.A.- and Euro-spec Mazda2 are identical.

2011 Mazda6 – Atenza Facelift Officially Unveiled in Japan, gets New 2.0-Liter Engine with Direct Injection

Only moments after we posted a gallery of scanned brochures from the refreshed Atenza, otherwise known as the Japanese market version of the Mazda6, and the automaker came out with an official release on its mid-size model. More of a subtle nip-and-tuck than a full blown facelift, the 2011MY Atenza has been refined with some styling changes, chassis tweaks and a new 2.0-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine with direct injection.

Mazda’s Record December Caps Off a Strong 2009

Mazda Australia has finished 2009 in style by retailing 7,813 vehicles in December making it the company’s most successful year-end ever and beating the previous December best by over 1,100.

This strong finish to the year has contributed to a 0.4pc increase in Mazda’s market share to 8.3pc for the year and ensured that Mazda remains Australia’s favourite importer. A total of 77,739 new vehicle retails means that 2009 has been Mazda’s second most successful year ever.
