Mazda MX-5 Hits 100,000 Sales Milestone in the UK

Twenty years since it first arrived in the UK, the Mazda MX-5 has achieved another significant milestone with sales of the iconic sports car hitting 100,000 units.

Attributes that include wind in the hair motoring, the joy of driving, outstanding handling, affordability and unadulterated fun, have encouraged 100,000 British motorists to buy a Mazda MX-5 over the last two decades. Despite the climate the Mazda MX-5 has proven to be the UK’s most popular sportscar, with British motorists accounting for over 10 percent of global sales and 40 percent of European sales since the MX-5’s introduction in 1990.

Mazda Shinari Concept Previews Future Design Language

When we brought you news about the Mazda Shinari Concept yesterday, we only put up two images. Well, we now have some more images from Mazda for you to drool over. If this is your first time encountering the Shinari Concept, the model is a four-door-coupe study that shows the future design direction for the Japanese brand. Mazda said that it will use the word ‘Kodo’ (Japanese for soul of motion) to describe the new design language.

Statement: Mazda3 And Mazda5 Special Service Programme

Mazda UK is asking owners of some Mazda3 and Mazda5 cars from October onwards to visit their local dealer for a free precautionary technical check of the power steering system. In the absence of power assistance the vehicles remain safe to drive.

This is part of a Special Service Programme to check for possible residual particles in the power steering pipes which could cause the hydraulic power assistance system and its electric pump to overheat and shutdown.

JDM Mazda Premacy / Mazda5 Minivan gets AWD Option

If you take into account that most domestic models are offered with the option of all-wheel drive in Japan, it was only a matter of time before Mazda released an AWD version of its latest Premacy minivan, otherwise known as the new Mazda5 in overseas markets.

The 4WD Premacy is available in Japan in two trim levels, 20E and 20S, both of which are powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder petrol engine linked to an electronically controlled four-speed automatic transmission. According to Mazda, the driver can select front-wheel drive or four-wheel drive mode with the push of a button.

Mazda Special Offers Boost Driving School Programme

Mazda is aiming to increase new car sales to driving schools, and ultimately to their successful pupils, with a series of enticing new incentives to driving instructors.

Both the Mazda2 and Mazda3 are included in the special driving school programme which offers:
-Low rate vehicle finance
-Free of charge supply and fitment of He-Man dual controls
-Free car header board including graphics
-Free metallic paint
-A GPS secondary speedometer fitted free of charge on the Mazda3. (The instrument cluster’s ‘tunnel’ design on this model makes it difficult for the driving instructor to view the speedometer from the passenger seat).
