Mazda Builds Two Millionth Mazda3

HIROSHIMA, Japan—Mazda Motor Corporation has announced that the total global production volume of the Mazda3 (known as the Mazda Axela in Japan) reached two million units at the end of October 2008.

The Mazda3 achieved this significant milestone in five years and four months, making it the fastest time to produce two million units among the new generation Zoom-Zoom models Mazda has introduced since 2002.

Mazda CEO says there won’t be “any change” in Ford relationship

Like the other Detroit automakers, Ford is strapped for cash and looking for ways to free up a little extra capital. Ford has already increased its cash reserves through the sale of Jaguar and Land Rover, which prompted rumors that the Blue Oval was looking to dish its shares of Mazda. But per one Mazda exec, those rumors are completely unfounded.

Mazda2 Extreme to Make Rally Debut in Australia

The Aussie-made Mazda2 Extreme that premiered earlier this year at the 2008 Melbourne Auto Show will make its long-awaited rally debut in Canberra, Australia this weekend at the penultimate round of the New South Wales rally championship.
