Here is the last facelift for the Mazda MX-5 before designers give it a total makeover in 2012. Being shown at the 2008 Paris Motor Show, the 2009 Mazda MX-5 marks the 20th anniversary and continues to deliver the unchanging value of “Jinba-Ittai” – which means oneness between driver and car.
There have been no massive changes to the 2.0L engine besides rev limits which have been increased from 6,700 to 7,000 rpms at the speed which the engine delivers maximum power. Total rpms have been increased by 500 (for a total of 7,500 rpms).

The redesigned Mazda6 will start at $18,550 for the base SV trim with a six-speed manual transmission, Mazda has announced. Prices exclude a $670 destination charge. That represents a $590 decrease over the outgoing sedan, and means the Mazda6 will cost less than the ’09 Toyota Camry ($18,920) and Chevy Malibu ($20,745), as well as the ’08 Honda Accord ($20,360) and Nissan Altima ($18,620). The price decrease isn’t caveat-free: Alloy wheels, keyless entry and cruise control — all standard before — don’t come on the base model. Even so, it’s still fairly well-equipped: A/C, power windows and locks, antilock brakes, six airbags and a CD stereo with steering-wheel controls — though not an auxiliary MP3 jack — are standard.

Mazda announced today that it is working to reduce fuel-consumption in its cars by an average 30 percent by 2015. According to Mazda, it will have renewed almost its entire lineup and will develop new lightweight generation platforms to reach its goals.

One of the keys to Mazda’s continuing growth in Europe and around the world has been a strategy of expanding the line-up with exciting vehicles that appeal to an ever-wider group of customers. In less than two years, Mazda introduced several vehicles that were never in its portfolio before, like the high-performance Mazda3 MPS, the unique power retractable hardtop MX-5 Roadster Coupe and the sports crossover SUV Mazda CX-7. This strategy is now set to continue with the European launch of the first Mazda2 three-door version.
