Volkswagen SP-2 was built in Brazil from 1972-1976. It was named after the firm’s plant in Sao Paulo and was sold only in the South American market.

If there’s one thing that can be said about the Volkswagen Beetle, it’s that the car is certainly not an example of conservative styling. No one is expecting the car to lose its distinctive shape, but what if the next-generation Beetle looked a little less like a plastic imitation of itself? According to Volkswagen’s design boss, the 2010 Beetle will be decidedly more mature.

As we write this Volkswagen is testing a fleet of 20 plug-in hybrid Golf’s in Berlin preparing for a market launch by late 2010 as a 2011 model year - and you thought the Chevrolet Volt was going to be the only plug-in hybrid coming to the market in 2010.
