Volkswagen Unveils New Polo Vivo in South Africa

For the last 25 years the entry ticket to the Volkswagen brand was the much loved Citi Golf which retired in January 2010.

The Polo Vivo is the Volkswagen brand’s new entry-level car in the A0 segment and is more closely aligned to the international Volkswagen brand vision of being the “most innovative volume brand in the world”.

Polo Vivo is a unique Volkswagen offering that has been created with the aim of providing “affordable and accessible mobility” to the South African market.

Volkswagen Group is Recruiting Some 6,000 University Graduates And Apprentices Worldwide

This year, the Volkswagen Group will be recruiting 3,000 university graduates worldwide, of which one third will be hired in Germany. In addition, 2,900 young people will begin their vocational training with the Group during the current year. The total number of apprentices will top the 10,000 mark for the first time this year.

Volkswagen Sets Roadmap for E-Mobility

Volkswagen plans to expand its fleet of electric drive vehicles: The use of hybrid technology in production vehicles is already being demonstrated in the Touareg Hybrid at this year’s Geneva Motor Show. In 2011, a test fleet of 500 Golfs with electric drives will follow. Starting in 2013, the high-volume Golf and Jetta models of the Volkswagen brand are expected to dominate the hybrid and electric vehicle market.

Electronic Boost for new VW Golf R by APS Sportec

APS, the UK dealer of the Swiss-based Sportec tuning firm, has announced the launch of a new Stage One ECU package for the Volkswagen Golf R hot hatch. In stock form, the Golf R’s 2.0-liter turbocharged engine delivers 267bhp and 258 lb-ft (354Nm) of torque. With the software upgrade, output is bumped from to 300bhp at ,6000rpm and 321lb.ft (440Nm) of torque at 2750 rpm.

As a result, APS claims that the Golf R’s 0-100 kmh (0-62mph) acceleration time is reduced from 5.7 to 5.3 seconds, with the top speed increasing to 160mph or 265 km/h.

New 85.6mpg VW Polo BlueMotion Available for Order in the UK

After yesterday’s presentation of the fastest version of the new Polo, the 180HP GTI, Volkswagen today announced that it is accepting orders in the UK for the most economical variant of the supermini, the Polo BlueMotion. Prices start at £14,445 on the road for the three-door, and at £15,045 for the five-door model with the first cars expected to reach dealers in May.

The latest generation of the Polo BlueMotion adopts a new 1.2-litre TDI three-cylinder common rail diesel engine generating 75 horsepower and 133 lbs ft (180 Nm) of torque.

The new diesel unit is combined with longer gearing through the five-speed manual gearbox, regenerative braking and an automatic Start/Stop system, as well as low rolling resistance tires and several cosmetic changes such as bespoke bumpers, side skirts and an extended roof spoiler, all designed to maximize efficiency.
