South Korea’s New Car Assessment Program has awarded the Chevrolet Spark with its top five-star safety rating, a one star improvement over the similar European New Car Assessment Program’s four-star rating.
KNCAP gave the Spark a five star rating for all three of its impact tests – frontal, offset frontal and side impacts. KNCAP also says that the Spark received the highest results of any vehicle ever tested for pedestrian safety.

I’ve been in a drag race before, sometimes watching the lights on a pole between the lanes turn from red to green and other times watching a similar sequence above an intersection. I’ve towed heavy things behind my semi’s tractor and in the bed of a pickup truck. However, I have never been in a race dragging over thirty tons of axle-mounted steel behind me. Yet there I was, throttle to the floor of a spanking new 2011 Ford F450 as it bucked and shook its way down hard packed mine debris with a 39-ton, 78,000 pound Caterpillar front end loader hitched to my back end. Though I detest using the word, it was…AWESOME!.

We’ll say it once again, with feeling (aka, italics): The Volkswagen Amarok is not coming to the United States. If you want one, we’re sorry. Vee-Dub simply doesn’t think there are enough of you waiting in the wings with cash-in-hand ready to take the fateful trip down to your local dealership. And it’s probably right.

General Motors Co.’s new marketing chief, Joel Ewanick, said today that Chevrolet is preparing an ad campaign for October that captures the banter that happens when a Silverado pickup owner gets in the same room with the owner of a competing brand.
“There’s really two big camps,” Ewanick said of Chevy and Ford pickups. “We’re going to find interesting, creative and funny ways to take advantage of the fact that there’s really the Hatfields and McCoys.”
