The Studio

A small studio built around cars, light, and obsession

Photo Cars Online is an independent automotive photography studio crafting cinematic imagery for collectors, dealers, and marques who refuse to settle for ordinary catalog shots.

Our Story

Born in a garage, raised in the darkroom

Photo Cars Online began in 2014 as a side project between two friends — a photographer and a lifelong car enthusiast — who were tired of seeing beautiful machines reduced to sterile catalog thumbnails. What started as weekend shoots in borrowed warehouses has grown into a full studio serving private collectors, restoration houses, and boutique dealerships across North America and Europe.

Today, every frame is still shot with the same intention: to make the viewer lean in. We chase the specific light that only appears for seven minutes at golden hour, wait three days for the right overcast, and travel with a custom rig that lets us work in places most studios would call impossible. The result is a portfolio that feels less like product photography and more like editorial portraiture — because that's exactly what a great car deserves.

Mission & Values

Three principles guide every frame

We don't believe in presets, stock backdrops, or post-production tricks that fake a moment. Every image that leaves the studio is built from a real photograph, captured under conditions we chose deliberately.

Patience Over Convenience

We'll reschedule a shoot three times for the right light. We'd rather wait an hour for a cloud to break than compromise the image in software. Time, in our craft, is the most expensive tool we have — and the cheapest to waste.

Built for the Print Wall

Every image is captured and processed at print resolution. We deliver master files that hold up at 40×60 inches, and we're obsessive about dynamic range, color accuracy, and shadow detail. If it doesn't look extraordinary framed on your wall, we reshoot.

Respect for the Machine

We treat every car as a subject with a story, never a prop. Before we press the shutter, we learn the vehicle — its provenance, its quirks, the details its owner is proud of. That preparation is why our images feel like portraits rather than product shots.

Creative Philosophy

Framed in light, anchored in craft

A car is metal, glass, and rubber. Photography is what we make of those things when light agrees to cooperate. Our job is to put them in the same room at the right time.

We shoot tethered, we shoot manual, and we rarely trust auto-exposure. Every composition is engineered in the moment, but most of the real decisions happen hours before — in location scouting, in conversations with owners, in choosing which 90-minute window of the day will define the entire series.

  • 01
One machine, one story Every session is built around a single hero subject. We never batch-shoot a lineup. The depth you see in our portfolio comes from focus, not volume.
  • 02
Location as character A 911 photographed in a sterile showroom is a catalog shot. The same 911 photographed on a wet coastal road at dawn is a portrait. The location is half the photograph.
  • 03
Post-production restraint We edit to remember, not to invent. Color grading, contrast, and shadow recovery — never composite skies, fake reflections, or paint-corrected bodywork. What you see is what was in the frame.

Delivered ready to print Every gallery comes with print-optimized masters, ICC-profiled color, and sizing guidance. We want these images on walls, not buried in hard drives.
The Team

The people behind the frame

Work With Us

Have a car that deserves more than a catalog shot?

We take on a limited number of projects each quarter. Tell us about the vehicle, the deadline, and the wall you want it to live on — we'll take it from there.
